ISO 9001 :2008
In April 2006 Display Tactix was proud to have gained ISO 9001 accreditation.
We are also very excited to be the only Sign Writing and Display Designer / Manufacturer in NZ to be ISO certified!
But what does this mean for our customers? And what does having ISO even mean?
ISO is a “stamp” to certify that our company structure and systems have been developed to a level where we are in control of all aspects of our business.
This means information is stored accurately and can be retrieved when required, quality management systems are in place and are being used, and there is a company emphasis on continually improving.
For our customers, ISO is not something that will have obvious effects on a day-to-day basis, but could be compared to the difference between driving an older car that you’re never sure is going to last a long distance trip, or driving a well-maintained new vehicle where you don’t have to worry about breakdowns.
In the early days, the ISO system wasn’t user friendly! It focused on documenting every tiny detail of a business in a comprehensive manual. This often became a library of manuals and they could run to thousands of pages, to the extent that a large company had to employ full-time staff to keep the manuals updated.
While these manuals were required to pass an ISO audit, they may not have even been accessed very often in day-to-day business. The old adage applies, “when it gets too complicated, no one uses it”.
For a company like Display Tactix, the original requirements to become ISO Accredited would have been overwhelming. The ISO standard was completely revamped in 2000, removing the emphasis on documenting every tiny detail, and instead, asking for a manual that documented the core systems of a business.
To gain ISO accreditation a company must still pass an “audit”, where they must convince an outside observer that they are in control of information and can access old information when required to.
With the easing up of the paperwork side of ISO, this opened up the ISO standard for businesses, which being smaller had simpler structures and now did not have to be burdened with a over-complicated set of manuals.
Display Tactix has been able to document the core business systems in a manual.
ISO 14001 : 2004 Environment Management Systems
In January 2009 Display Tatcix (2003) Ltd was recertified as one of the first Sign Writing and Display Designer/Manufacturer Companies in New Zealand and regained the new ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard.
At the same time we added to this a new certification - ISO 14001 International Standard for the Environment Management Systems.
As part of our preparation process for this we made some dramatic changes. We reduced our waste down to about 10%, and we increased the productivity on the CNC Router by more then 300%. We have also reduced our carbon foot print to a minimum. Regular research is a requirement of ISO 14001 and this ensures you as our client that we are really using the most environmentally friendly solution for you.
We have started all ready with the introduction of our eco friendly display products.
We would like to thank Michael van Uden from GCS for the successful audit and his help in this process.
Display Tactix will use his Logo and the general ISO certified Logo designed by Display Tactix (2003) LTD.
